A brand new six-court addition to the existing Wendouree Sports and Events Centre, purpose built for traditional ‘highball’ sports community and elite sports, show court seating and external works. Works on this project included the construction of six multi-purpose courts with spectator seating for 1300 patrons, front entrance, reception and foyer, office & administration areas, a semi-commercial kitchen and café, home and away change rooms, public amenities and a large 10,000m2 car park.
Procurement of the Kingpsan roofing, retractable seating and specialist sports flooring were key to the success of this project.
Throughout the construction phase we engaged all key project stakeholders, including the end user groups, to ensure a project with such significant community interest was delivered exceeding expectations.
Re-designing the mechanical layout allowed us to achieve a far greater viewing experience for users of the general courts and, more importantly, the show court.
As with any development of this scale, consideration to essential services external stakeholders was paramount. Understanding lead times and requirements of stakeholders such as CFA, Powercor and Energy Safe Victoria drove our focus on areas such as the commercial kitchen and static fire firefighting supply, to ensure adequate time for commissioning and certification.
By developing a close working relationship with Mantric Architecture and City of Ballarat we considered the implications of, the now funded, stage 2 works.
