The Castlemaine Hospital was built in the late 1800s. The project works incorporated the existing building area and a new extension to the main building, south block, north wing, kitchen and auditorium.

The new works included complete renovation of the urgent care area, operating theatre suite, day procedures and radiology.

The services and facilities for the redevelopment comprised urgent care, acute care, operating theatre suite, main entry/reception and administration offices.
