The project
Demolish an existing weatherboard house and build two new homes for the client - at Lorne.
The client's new residence is set over 4 levels on an elevated block, built in Anglesea stone with large glass panels and around a man-made stream.
Internal timber floors are accentuated by low voltage downlights.
Features include:
- Copper cladding
- Polished timber
- Special landscaping and retaining walls
- Concrete footings and multi-level slab
- Timber framed walls with western red cedar cladding
The Challenges
- Difficult excavation on a steep block
- Sourcing a quality stonemason
- Building an 8 meter scaffold for stonemasonry, dismantling and rebuilding for finishing trades
- Access round the site for carpenters during construction
- Sourcing quality trades people to the location
- Working on both houses simultaneously.
The Outcome
- A spectacular home of considerable beauty and elevation
- Maximum ocean views
- Landscaping privacy
