The Project:
Originally built in 1908, historic Bellinzona Grange, Hepburn Springs, was burnt out for a second time in November 2003.
The iconic building was famous for its excellence in the tourism and hospitality industry.
The task was to reconstruct, following a design which mirrored the Edwardian style of the original building.
The latest in technology required for modern conferencing was blended with traditional finishes such as decorative finials, gable ends and frieze details.
The Challenges:
- Reconstruct quickly to reduce time of income loss for owners and community
- Interpreting evolving architectural drawings
- Building delay and redesign (without an architect) to preserve an historic tree
- Sourcing materials to match the period style of the building
- Locating quality trades people with traditional skills to construct in the detail demanded
The Outcome:
- Project completed in 15 months for $6.5 million
- Successfully met the challenge of reconstructing a beautiful period building
- State MBAV Award winning project
